A little preview:

I’ve been called many things in my life. Some have hailed me as a savior and hero, others have reviled me as a monster and destroyer. The Silver City called me their great genius inventor, while the Order of Drake referred to me as their fiercest warrior. The magic race of the Dhaesí dubbed me the Uniter of Worlds, and later, the Great Divider. Perhaps the most well-known of my designations, I was The Man the Shadow Fears. But how is it I, a human with no magic in his blood whatsoever, became the thing monsters most feared in this world? That is a long and complicated tale, however, it is one I will try to pen here. This will not be a simple task. The accounts of my life are difficult ones to tell. They will probably be just as difficult to hear

Unlike my fellow man, who seems to recall their earliest memories with ease and joy, the story of my genesis does not supply me with the same feelings of nostalgia. No, my first memory is one of darkness and fear.

I’m not sure how old I was in my first memory, but I had already gained the skills to walk and talk, albeit with the clumsy tendencies of a child. Yes, I know it’s hard to imagine the person I would become as ever having been anything so normal. However, despite what I would one day become, I was, in fact, a child once; a child who took the world in with wonder and excitement in his innocent heart.
Sadly, my first memory is of the death of that innocence.

What is the Decaverse?

Over ten thousand years ago, the Great Creator wrote the Decaverse into reality. The One True Magic the Creator used as the ink gave rise to the World Bearing Tree that grew out from beneath an ocean of liquid night sky. Over time, The One True Magic inside the tree split into ten parts and became the seeds of the ten fruits of the tree, the ten worlds of the Decaverse.

The part of the One True Magic that makes up the heart of each world dictated the path of evolution the races of each world would take and the magic that was available to those who could draw from the hearts of their worlds.

While the ten worlds are vastly different, there are three things they all have in common: great and powerful magic is the rule of each world, war is a near constant, and all ten worlds are in grave danger; for beneath the roots of the World Bearing Tree slumbers a great evil who desires nothing more than the utter destruction of all reality.

All that begins must end, all that slumbers must awake, and if reality intends to continue, ten champions must rise from across the worlds to oppose the great evil upon its awakening. But first, these heroes—these Sorcerer Saints—will need to be forged in fire to prepare them for the apocalyptic war to come.

Chapter 01

Milara’s footsteps echoed through the catacombs, competing with the sound of a hammer repeatedly striking a chisel. Despite the lack of light, she had no need for a torch or candle. The people of Tír na Angelus were well known as the race with the most magically powerful blood in all the world, and Milara, as their Queen, was the most powerful of all. With the majority of her magic focused on increasing her sight, her pale blue eyes glowed, allowing her to see the dark halls as if they were illuminated by the sun..
